Ellen’s “Best Candidates List”

Upon request, I've compiled a list of certain candidates who I've identified for their demonstrated commitment to public health and safety, sensible economic development, fairness and social justice. Some are candidates that are on the ballot I’ll receive shortly in the mail, others are not candidates for whom I can vote, but I want to see them advance as public servants because of the good policy work I believe they’ll do.

State School Board

Carol Lear has proven to be a sensible voice at the Utah State School Board and deserves to be re-elected to District 6.   votecarolblear.com

SLCO Clerk:

Lannie Chapman. The protégé of Sherry Swenson, Lannie Chapman has a proven track record to give just oversight to a most important tenant of democracy:   the vote!

SLCO Council At Large "B":

Suzanne Harrison, MD.  Suzanne was gerrymandered out of her Legislative District 32 seat. Her term in the State Legislature let us understand her priorities and voting record. I trust her to seek the truth and champion the social, economic, air/water/soil, affordable housing and mobility needs of all SLCO residents.

SLCO Sheriff:

Rosie Rivera gets my endorsement for her demonstrated leadership capabilities.

State Legislature:

Gay Lynn Bennion re-elected to represent District 41 will ensure that we who live in the Cottonwood Heights & surrounding areas, and Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons will continue to be heard on the issues of protection from over-building & its associated traffic, noise and pollution ills as well as other innumerable issues she has demonstrated she is willing to address.

Hope Goeckeritz running for District 39 in West Jordan. She has worked to increase government accountability, and has collaborated with appointed officials and city departments to maintain and stimulate sensible economic growth when she was on staff with the City of South Jordan.

Congress:

Darlene McDonald in Utah's 4th Congressional District seat will bring better balance to Utah's federal representation. She has demonstrated holistic understanding of 21st century challenges. We need her vision, intellect, strength, collaborative skills, caring and even-handed leadership for Utah in Washington, DC.

Senate:

Evan McMullin better represents the right-leaning Utah base than his lead opponent who continuously supported the Trump corruption during his last term representing Utah in the Senate.
