Ski access

In canvassing, many residents share a concern for accessing Snowbird and Alta on powder mornings might become restricted based on the need to reduce vehicles within Little Cottonwood Canyon.

We have experienced UTA choosing to remove the bus stop at the mouth of LCC in favor of having skiers leave their cars at more remote Park & Ride locations. This has been discouraging for Cottonwood Heights District 4 residents who would literally have to back track in order to ride the bus. There is also a concern that when/if UDOT’s Enhanced Bus with PPSL (Peak Period Shoulder Lanes) is adopted that the frequent buses will bypass picking anyone up along SR 210 within Cottonwood Heights.

This points up the importance of having a District 4 Council person who has a proven track record of putting “residents first.” I believe that I have demonstrated that with my volunteerism, collaboration and contribution these last years founding and directing Save Not Pave (SNP). While SNP has focused on the Wasatch Blvd expansion, we have also paid keen attention and collaborated with other LCC-centric organizations such Wasatch Backcountry Alliance, Save Our Canyons, Wasatch Mountain Club and others to protect and preserve the foothills and canyons we value highly.

Let’s work together to make mobility, especially into the mountains we love for pow-pow or other recreating accessible, clean and strategically planned and managed with local residents in mind.
